Disclaimer: This is a message I wrote to a brother a long time ago. Since then I have grown to love. I will continue to keep this post up because God wants me to. This post still holds great truths. God has taught me a lot since then in dealing with His people, Amen.
A person wrote me:
I must say I have growing concerns about actually belonging to God. After reading 1 John I questioned if I was truly one of God's children. So I would like you to have a look at my inner man. And tell me what needs fixing. Could you please ask God if I am His, that is to say, wants if I am saved. And please ask Him if I should continue my relationship with my girlfriend because I always feel like she is cheating on me. At times I wonder if it's God's will for me to remain single for the rest of my life. I feel as though I shouldn't be with anyone as it would hinder what God me to do. I could be wrong.
My Response:
No, I will not look at your inner man for that reason. I look into spiritual man’s to inform people of what they need to work on so they can improve their relationship with Christ. Sometimes People need a confirmation. If you examined your life to scripture and you see that it does not fit, then what does that tell you?
I will not ask Him if you are His. I will help you figure it out. Your girlfriend is not the woman God wants you to marry, so what does that tell you?
Why are you dating in the first place; to have fun? Did you consult God when you picked your partner? Was your intention to marry her? When you pursue relationships with the opposite sex, are they biblical? What about the same sex? I can tell that your girlfriend is not God’s daughter, without even looking into her. How? I know if she were, God would convict her for dating you. Recreational dating (the immoral modern day fad the heathens practice) is demonic and not even biblical.
Listen, I don’t think you’re going to be single for the rest of your life. I know this, though, GOD WILL NOT bless you with one of his daughters if you are not right with Him. There is nothing more terrifying than taking upon yourself a daughter of God. God loves his daughters. My earthly father would have to be killed before he’d ever let a man hurt me. If my dad being evil can love me like that, how much more does God love His daughters?
I’m going to right some questions. I want you to think and determine within yourself whether your intentions are good natured. Answer these questions honestly for yourself. These questions will determine if you are actually saved.
Are you saved because you said a prayer one time?
Are you continuing to repent and believe?
Do you find reading scriptures and/or spending time with God bothersome?
Does God chastise you when you sin?
Are you showing the fruits of the spirit?
Is Christ continuing a work of sanctification in you?
If you answered no to these questions, you are not saved. If God began a good work in you, He would finish it.
I suggest you read 1 John over again and compare it to your secret life. Now, why did I say that for? You can act Christian in front of your friends or your family and fool them into believing whatever you want. Everyone has a secret life. Your life that is not in front of people. The person you are in your down time. The person you are when you go out. Compare that life to the scriptures. Anyone could look Holy in church and/or Facebook.
If you find out that you are His child continue in His word and consecrate on Him. If you know you are not, be in His word and consecrate on Him. No matter if you’re saved or not HE IS WORTHY BEING HONORED AND GLORIFIED. If He sends you to hell praise God on your bed of fire for His righteousness for he has acted justly with you.
